I'm pretty sure the nationalism is just an act to get more points from the enemy army, so we don't need to deal with it after this arc. Speaking of which, I'm actually kind of fine with it. I saw enough of 007 and other tropey power-trip movies, and at least this doesn't push on the plot armor as much.

probably super biased, but viewing this as colonized vs colonizers is v therapeutic. might not be exactly what im looking for in terms of nationalistic catharsis but hey, it comes close and im just reading for fun anyways. gotta give xie yan points though, he's so dedicated to completing the quest and getting points his nationalist LARP is v thick and bulletproof (heh). its fun to see a less america-centric powertrip honestly. death to colonizers!! ooh thats so nice to say.

The number of comments on these sequence of chapters complaining about the "Chinese Propaganda" or "Nationalism" confuses me. You guys do realize it's a Chinese comic written for people who live in China? It isn't made for citizens of other nations which, by the way, all make their own nationalist movies/comics/books so it's kinda laughable people are annoyed with it. Take a breather and just view it for what it is, entertainment.

I can practically taste the angry tears running down the author's face as he wrote this arc. Maybe if China spent less time grumbling over the past and fantasizing about how things could have gone if only those darned non-Chinese didn't have guns and tactics and stuff (and IF ONLY muh ancient 5000 year old martial arts actually gave superpowers) they wouldn't have spent the entire 1900s as a backwater at best and a hellscape at worst. It's just sad to see a global superpower still putting out such childlike propaganda. This would be just as tacky if it was Europe or the USA doing the same thing (and they did do this same thing a lot during the Cold War), I don't believe in giving it a pass just because it's Chinese. Allusions to politics is always fair game in fiction, but this is an allusion the same way that dumping a jar of ground up ghost peppers on your food is "seasoning".

Y'all complaining about the nationalism need to learn to lighten up and just view it as entertainment. You clearly don't understand the cultural and historical significance behind it and you don't need to know it to enjoy it anyways.
