The issue is that this seems to be a shame-based society, so not just the guilty siblings, but the entire Aurousseau family was to be executed. And the plot seems to have been conceived and executed entirely by Lambert. Lena's only crime, though not insignificant, was tacit complicity via silence.

As I understand it, Rei, Claire and Prince Thane were pleading not in order to spare Lambert, but on behalf of Lena and the family as a whole. Which seems reasonable to me.

I think Rei was too forgiving, I understand Claire's pov cuz Lene and her spent pretty much their entire life together, but if that was the case for me itd just make me more disapointed honestly
and Lene threatened to hurt Claire when Rei cornered Lambert or whatever his name was, and she just let her go, I guess to make Claire happy, but even so
