Many people enjoy cooking good food as a hobby + even if you live alone you can cook big portions and eat the leftovers during the week, which is just as quick as instant food, but usually healthier

From context clues, it seems that the city seems to be similar to modern London, and everything else seems to be in this sorta secret organization nonsense, but to the ordinary people, it’s just normal life.
