The novel translation was not posted in the chapter threads anyway, so I am taking the liberty to judge the work that I am actually reading, which is the manga, which is where Yuu sits still on his ass and does not do anything.

Less bad you recognize you don´t read the real work who is the novel (available in note.com/saranami for anyone, including you). The manga as adaptation is very defficient, IMO. And not only for Yuu, for Hikari herself too. Both them loses a lot in the Yom´s version. The character better developed in the entire manga in precisely Yami.
With a few luck, you soon will recognize too your upset is because gender roles and because Yuu is not the alpha male who rescues Hikari the damsel in distress
Anyway, it wouldn't change much because the translations of the omake chapters from Yuu's POV were posted here, and all you did was make fun of him and his pain, demonstrating your misandry once again

Other post ommiting how HIKARI ATTACKED PHYSICALLY YUU. Other post validating violence against men. Also, other post ommiting how Hikari definitely shouldn´t have became Yami´s friend.
Anyway, all this is possible because the manga ommited how Yuu sent a message to Hikari at the end of chapter 44 about his reunion with Haru and Yuki. If not, Hikari wouldn´t have come to Yuu´s house.

And the only thing he really did wrong, hide all the thing of the failed exam, was fully pardoned by your goddess Hikari and she doesn´t even thinks in it during all these last chapters after returning from the flashblack in chapter 36.

I think Yuu/Yami could still be endgame - especially if Hikari gets it into her head that Yuu still loves Aya and encourages Yuu to go for Aya - I just don't think it's a win if the only reason Yuu ends up fighting for Aya is cause Hikari told him to.

I was confused at this chapter and thought maybe I missed previous chapter, but it's not. Previous chapter has Yami goes full teenage edgy more with narrator saying "She was pushed to the point of no return", and now this chapter has Hikari and Yuu just made up with low difficulty. The contrast is so funny cause it's like Yami just being dramatic for no reason.

Though it might lead to potential tragedy depends on how far deep end Yami is right now.

My main gripe with this is that he still hasn't done anything. He's like a flag in the wind. The last thing he did on his own was try to get to the same high school Hikari did. After that, it was just being dragged and pushed around. Now, he is also given reconciliation on a silver platter. Hikari is too good (maybe accommodating would be better?) a person - it doesn't matter too much here, because no one has explicit malice in their actions, but she feels like someone who would get used by everyone around her.

I mean, IC is just the real start of White Album 2 story. But seeing how Maruto said the past year his original planning came until chapter 41 and did this mini time-skip from 2-3 weeks after the cultural festival catastrophe, I think the next part will be the equivalents of CC and over all, Coda. Even more if Maruto tries to explore how would work the polygamy experiment.

In any case, this will be the Arc of "I will find my lost girlfriend", after the "make threesome and establishing polycule rules arc", and, over all, the climax will be Hikari and Yuu confronting the real big boss of this story: Yami mother.
She provoked everything here and she will fix it too, like Yuuko Touma did in WA2.
