Not really? This novel chapter felt like the parallel to Aya's last - Hikari's in love with Yuu and theoretically wants to be w/ him but is also absolutely done w/ him b/c of the wishy washy ness. I think the manga better conveyed how much it hurt her to be told he was willing to throw her away.
I admit I may have been a little flippant when I described her feelings as "the ick", but my point is everything about how the scene is presented implies that she's completely miserable about this whole scene. And Her entire vibe with Yuu up until this point really makes me feel like its not unreasonable to take her response here as her being done with him and his nonsense.

Oh totally agree, I was just responding to the contradictory thing - in the novel she's also abjectly miserable. Mostly b/c she's in love with Yuu, just like Aya was so angry last chapter b/c she's in love with Yuu. It's exactly as you said - neither girl wants to be with a Yuu who's in love with both of them.

I agree with you. Hikari seeing Yuu openly weep about losing Ayami(again) is too much. There’s only so much a person can empathize with until they themselves are emotionally damaged. She’s a saint for putting on a facade of a smile to calm down Yuu. But like you said in the novel both know it’s fake

It was a bit of a kneejerk reaction to the prospect that things were being presented in such a clipped way that it would essentially be impossible to get a proper read of the story without reading a separate version I'd have to find somewhere else. I haven't really felt like that was actually a problem so far, despite what some people have said.

Same, like I started reading the novel to backfill arguments that I thought the manga made clear. I think the manga has for the most part kept all the important stuff.

Tangentially related, I think Maruto did a good job of writing Yuu into a corner where, through his own actions, he's not gonna be able to convince either girl that she's the one he really wants to be with. Mostly cause it's still not clear who he would choose if he truly believed he had a chance with both.

Oh boy, here we go again... everyone trying to help the deranged woman, she doesn't accept any help and people end up getting in danger due to her attidute (all topped of with a tint of NTR here and there)... ah, and it seems there's another drama on the way too... can't wait...

The author is just going into circles again and again and the characters are now forced to help a girl that clearly doesn't really care about any of them (besides the NTR aspect of the whole drama where she wants to be helped, which in her mind means fucked, by the male character of this story), and all this is done in a way that feels totally unrealistic and frankly it's not even that interesting anymore storywise (we know the way the author set these characters, we know how they act or are forced to act around that girl, the only different thing could be the new drama/shocking moment that the author will came up with later in the story, but at this point we all know how this dynamic between the three of them works, so there is not that much to tell anymore).

I guess the only guys still interested in this story are:

-the girls/boys with a personality/way of acting similar at least in a way to our deranged plot device of this story, in this first case these guys just want to continue to cheer for her, no matter whatever shitty action she will continue to take because it's a reflection of their shitty personality and their way to act in the real world;

-those people who are into NTR scenarios or cheap dramas, waiting for a resolution that will only happen when the author will get bored of repeating the same story over and over again.

Of fucking course.
Hikari should just cut contact with Yuu. She's too god, and he's too stupid (I hate to say that seeing Yuu go so hard for a girl that rejects him hits a bit too close lmao)
I have a feeling she will after she gets them together again, I dont see her interacting with either of them after this she might switch schools and move into an apartment away from her family because it will be too much.

I think endgame is strong Aya/Hikari friendship, but Hikari legit can't do anything to get Aya and Yuu back together that wouldn't feed into Aya's belief that Yuu only wants to be w/ her b/c he thinks Hikari won't have him and that's a big reason why Aya is so done w/ him.

ETA: Aya can't get Hikari and Yuu together for much the same "he's only w/ me b/c she doesn't want him" reasons, which I think Maruto wrote this tragic little knot really well.
