- Summoners have been misrepresented in the culture by evil authority (church, government, "hero") and our MC will discover the lost/secret truth.

Or

- Summoners are fine, but dad hates him for petty reasons and has been raising him this way to get his jollies. (A summoner once dated a girl he wanted to creep on, so he hates them or some such.)

Or

- It will never be explained, we just needed a reason for the MC to grow up abused and have the standard warped view of his own worth to start the story.

I say probably because summoner is seen as lower class or something.
Since his father probably want something like Sage or Sword master or something high class.

Not giving them an excuse, but the father was probably waiting for literally any reason to kick him out, they just needed some "noble" excuse to do it. Calling it a failure of his power saves the family's face while kicking out what they think is a curse they couldn't get rid of without looking bad.

Still ass writing but nearly every story like this has a terrible beginning.

Makes more sense if the father is trying to martyr the sister and was going to use him as a scapegoat anyhow.
