"You're supposed to kiss at a wedding!"

Yeah? You're also supposed to propose before the wedding too. A surprise wedding feels super weird to me. I guess it shows they were all that confident that she'd say yes when put on the spot. Would have been nice for a wedding, which symbolizes two people wanting to move forward in life together, to involve both people in the process.

woo...yeah... it only takes 30 chapters to get officially married :meguupog: meanwhile, other manga is still busy with rejections and has made no progress at all in over 350++ chapters :kek:

Okay but fr is that rental girlfriend chapter a joke chapter or is that legitimately how the story ends? I’ve never read RG, but social media was making fun of this chapter and I couldn’t figure out if this was real or not.

:korone:

Speaking of, finished Volume 5, gonna update it
I didn't read all the spoilers, but your comment is so good and informative that I'm going to reference it in the top forum comment from here on out.

Still don't think making a wedding a surprise is a good idea, what if she had said no after all that? Not that i think she would in this situation

Ah, I think that one of the problems is that y'all forgot they've already been legally married for a long time (chapter 6). Nazelbert did propose to Agnes back then, and she did say yes. For the both of them back then, it was more about protecting each other and reciprocating kindness to each other, in order to be safe from Princess Mia and Agnes' family. However, throughout the story, they develop real feelings for each other and confirm their literal love, and have been living happily. A ceremony was unnecessary so it is intended to be a welcome surprise as it expresses he love and effort of the people of Sutrena.

I just find this bittersweet, because it’s played very cute and sweet, but even in the chapter she’s a little upset she couldn’t be part of the planning! Are they going to have a third (first was just signing the papers, second was this one) wedding so she can actually participate??

Just sucks that she couldn't be involved in her own wedding or have any agency; especially considering they got married against their will in the beginning. It could’ve been a nice way to take back intent and power by choosing to be married.
It’s such a weird change from the books. I get that they’re ending it so want to skip most of the novels, but it’s weird that they changed it from him asking and them planning it together to being something he completely surprised her with.

Considering in the books he explicitly tells her he wants to have a real wedding since they didn’t get the chance and they plan it together, I’d say you’re unnecessarily defending an unnecessary change.

Not trying to defend a change. Meta world me says a surprise wedding is DUMB and BAD. I'm just trying to convey an optional way to look at this whole thing. If I had to go back to chapter 1, I could criticize a plethora of silly narrative choice in this goofy ah manga. But 30 chapters into one of the fluffiest, most inconsequential fantasy shoujo I've ever read or worked on, let's be real, there's virtually not enough substance to defend. 😂 It's just so ridiculously simple and adorable, I love it.

My bottom line is there's no real narrative precedent to feel anger on Agnes' behalf for a surprise wedding. As silly as it might be, it's totally in line with the entire manga. Can't speak for the light novel! It's great that Nazel plans a ceremony with her in there. NO idea why they changed it here, I assume they wanted one final means of emphasizing Sutrena's love for Agnes through an unprompted act of service.

I think there's a isekai manga I read that the guy got kicked out of the hero's party but they all love him and when (they) defeated the demon king, they wanted to marry the mc. I forgot the title tho
