So they went to some bakery to beg for cheap or free bread crusts to bake a cake with them, which is assuming the bakery uses the rest of the bread for something else.

In Japan, I believe it's actually pretty common for bakeries that make sandwiches to have bread crusts they either give out/sell cheaply, since they love their sandwiches with the crust cut off.

Huh, the bitch and bastard Hikari and Shigeru are casually eating lunch with them like long-time buddies who did nothing wrong. Anybody else would've been better friends than this lying snake and thieving cat duo. Even if they did accept Hikari as a friend, I wouldn't be quick to trust her, and while Eiji thanked Shigeru for being a "friend" to him in the past, I don't remember them asking for his friendship or inviting him to hang out. Meh, just pair the bad boy with the bad girl. They both deserve each other since neither seem to really have changed for the better.

"Ah... right, that's true..."
Is Eiji an idiot? Aoi has stuck with him through thick and thin despite his obvious poverty and every challenge that came their way, and he's still thinking she's the kind of girl who wouldn't be caught dead eating "plebeian food"?

Aoi working part-time sounded like a recipe for disaster safety-wise, but it's good to see her guards are making sure nobody gets a chance at funny business with her. It's undeniably cute that she wants to surprise Eiji with food she made herself for his birthday, but I dearly hope this does not result in any dumb and nasty misunderstandings like "Aoi hates me now, she's avoiding me".

To be fair, Eiji forgiven their shenanigans, Hikari has her own issues to work out and Shigeru is basically a tsundere. They're harmless, forgive and forget.

Aoi is a sheltered girl, it was her first time visiting a WcBurger in ch3.2, so a "commoner" food is new to her, even the mayo+bamboo sprouts with rice gave away she was acting nice.

Agree on that, but that was a really surprisingly good idea and fast reflection on giving a present from the heart and own work rather than the usual flashy rich people thing she usually did.
