I typically don't like fantasy manga where the main character is already the strongest from the beginning, but this one doesn't irk me as much. I guess it's because his backstory and design aren't the typical self-insert, and also he's genuinely humble and kind (unlike certain MCs that have all the female cast falling for them due to being "kind" when they are just showing basic human decency). Also, such a showing is expected from a guy whose power level is "protagonist after the end of his story" vs a mage from Earth, where magic is much less prevalent.
