That was honestly kinda dumb of him to heal her in her sleep and then leave himself unguarded; you literally knew she was willing to destroy her own limbs to escape, and that she had her whole own free will now because of your heal. Sure, we know from the flashforward that it works out, but not thinking ahead like this...
