It's an idiot plot that works because a lot of the antagonists are mouth breathers and the MC passed elementary school common sense.

They are likely skipping things, but the saintess has a lot of influence. Likely lots of myths and legends adding weight to her desires. That and I assume brainwashing is involved.

Actually now that you mention it, yeah, thats one thing i noticed (someone else did too before my comment), but the WN doesn't have the girl's love, yuri or related tags, neither do the manga in the official site, so not sure where they pulled it from to add it here lol

Probably because the poster knew they would get more readers if they included the tag. Or they were evil and wanted to get everybody's hopes up.

Nah, they just added the tag after setting out their expectations on what this work would be about, without checking beforehand, i mean i wouldn't fault them given how the 1st chapter goes, but the tags are always very clear on this aspect, takeshobo gammaplus have a yuri tag to search for, and this work ain't tagged as that, neither does the novel (manga ain't tagged as GL/Yuri either in retails that have this tag, like cmoa or renta), simple
