Has this story been like...a big nothing burger for like the last 20 chapters or just me? It started off with an interesting premise with a bunch of yanderes who didn't know the true identity of the mc and constant hints like "oh boy this dude doesn't know what he's getting into, gonna get rough when the gig is up" but then they do learn the identity and...nothing happens?

I dunno, I've been guilty of just speed reading this for a long time now and can't even pretend to know or care about what's going on anymore. Think I'm dipping out of this one here

Phrasing seems to indicate that the demon will stay. It's just that Lisa will be the dominant personality in the body.

well the yandere's right now have an unsteady ceasefire, mostly thanks to the fact that Kanata wants to be friends with all of them and hasn't shown any preference. make no mistake however, all of them want to have him for themselves. I do expect that at one point they start to scheme and backstab each other trying to get rid of their rivals.
this is still mostly a misunderstanding comedy so nobody will die, but Kanata will at one point nurse someone back to health, making all the others jealous af. faked accidents and illnesses may also happen, so they can be nursed themselves.

nontheless right now the author seems to prefer external threats, which also stops the yandere competition, or at least shifts it because each girl wants to be as helpful as possible, so they get headpats (or similar) rewards.

but the keyword really is "misunderstanding comedy". these tend to be a little bit dumb and unrealistic, because no actual human would keep a simple misunderstanding as long as anime/manga protagonists. (exceptions may apply).
