I'm not going to argue about fair or not(Tournament Arcs invariably have stupid things happen), but that move was just incredibly dumb. At least shirahadori/Naked Blade Reception isn't a self damaging move(assuming you could ever get it to work). That knight probably destroyed his own left hand right there (The story shows there are limits to healing magic, and the girl who lost her eye, needed an extremely rare potion to heal that damage). This isn't the Finals, this is the semifinals, you still have to be able to fight in the next Hour, idiots. Parry or deflect the attack with your vambrace and counter with a punch. He's obviously skilled enough in martial arts. It's just so stupid.

Aina is also incredibly stupid in this chapter. She knows she isn't allowed to kill, and she does an attack that will totally kill him. Oh no, I'm going to slice him in half, disqualifying me from the tournament (Chapter 58 p13), damaging my honor, and the honor of our Master. That's why you have the flat of the blade to just concuss him into the stands. Or bash him in the face with the Pommel(Like you did in Ch58 p22). The entire premise of the tournament is no killing, you have to have had plans to not murder someone. You've disarmed him, Just zag, and bonk that mage next. You have experience dealing with unarmed fighters, you have one in your party. Simplest thing, ignore him, and go help your teammates, he hasn't shown any Speed actions in any of his fights.

Hey, that Mage used pretty destructive Ice Magic, we have half a day to do some shopping for our any weapons tournament. Why do we not have any defense against them? Like Expensive Pepper, or Pocket Sand. Renge already showed she can use Earth Magic, why doesn't she use that against Loco, instead of the tank?

He himself acknowledged she stopped because he was unresisting and had the gall to chastize her for it while acting as if aiming to maim or kill is the right thing to do in a competition fight with an explicit no killing rule. Simply ridiculous.
he acknowledged that she didn't pull a serious strike there, he even said that she underestimated him about thinking he wouldn't know how to fight bare-handed, the tournament is not about points is about knocking or incapacitating their opponents and when she took his weapons she thought it was over, that's clearly a misstep on her not the warrior and that's why he was disappointed on her, his edgy comment is about her not having the resolve to knock someone SHE considered not a risk anymore, ffs the tournament is about not killing, for them to be there, they have clearly not k!lled their opponents, he palm strike her, the mage did the same with the other 2.

I will give the warrior the benefit of the doubt as they are a high class team there, so they could get some high level potion or have a strong healer in the army or even their mage could know some good healing magic too. At least from what it looked he injured himself there to show his resolve on her as he dimmed her a worthy opponent except by the last move.

the 2nd point I totally agree there, for the 3rd point, the mage part, well Renge had to first make the tank unable to protect her, but the Mage was more skilled, remember that her first move was sealing Renge with bind magic and then knocking down Sorte. The girls needed to seal first the tank and bet for speed against the mage, but she was clearly stronger than them. When Renge freed herself her hot bloodness won over and instead of trying to seal the mage too (which would have been the best move, having 2 members unable to move and the warrior with only one hand to fight, she would have the advantage to win) she went for the warrior and got knocked by the mage that took her chance there.

Not a "serious strike" but a strike at all. It would have been another thing if he actually showed the intention to resist before she stopped - events still might have played out the same way, but I'd be willing to chalk it up to her own foolishness and call it a day, since the fight would still obviously be on. He didn't though, just stood there. It was reasonable to stop, this is what it means for it to be a competition fight, you don't swing for the fences no matter what and only asses the casualties later. That's why it's utter hyprocrisy for him to not only chastize it, but use it to his advantage, like the worst coward. Though obviously in his mind it's just "how it goes on the battlefield" or some such nonsense. If he wanted to actually show resolve, he should have let go of the sword after that little lecture, take position further back and continue fighting from neutral conditions. Of course, as I already mentioned, all of this should have been preceeded by whoever oversees the event stepping in, which is really the worst peeve I have here.

didn't expect them to get pummeled so onesidedly
They lost to very unfair means, she stopped from killing him, the equivalent of putting a sword to the throat, and he said, nah you have to kill me to stop me, knowing she can't do to it being a tournament. A referee should have declared him eliminated.
They really abused the tournament rules to fight there.

glad they didn't win because of just some stupid determination.
Yeah same. Life isn't fuckin' Undertale/Deltarune. Being "filled with determination" because your sugar daddy shouts your name doesn't stop you from getting your shit rocked when you are on the ropes.

losing weapons does not mean losing, they could be mages or hand to hand specialists.
Pretty much. I'd expect a trained royal military knight to be versed in a number of aspects of combat, especially as a veteran of actual battle.

I mostly agree, but in a world with magical remedies and healing spells, both sides could go much harder in a controlled environment. So as long as they don't kill one another, there is a good chance for them to make a recovery.
This right here. I went back to confirm it, but literally the only rule we get to know is "No killing". And given how hard in the paint the teams went after each other, I assume healing magic is fairly good given we didnt get read a rulebook on this.

EDIT:

Some people feel real strong about the other team. I'd agree bro took it too far, but also... he is a veteran combat soldier who also has to uphold the honor of the crown here too. So yeah, he is going to come off as a cringy edgelord a lil bit. But that kinda comes with the territory tbh.

you know ... fair points, I mean if he wanted to go full honor there, he could have separated them after grabbing the sword (next chapter we will know the girls or the guardian team perspective about that play... maybe, hopefully?), but we saw the girl on her first fight break the face of the POS adventurer with the hilt of her sword, she had options besides going for that attack to make him surrender, she also knocked out the dwarf on the other fight (I know they had weapons), but the point prevails of her underestimating a strong warrior that he didn't have options after losing his main weapons as other did mention he could even have magic attacks on his repertoire, and well he does know hand to hand combat.

the vice-captain nun hasn't done sh!t, so she's pretty much there as commentator rather than a judge to help stop any fight from escalating.

Even if one judges that she shouldn't have assumed he's defensless, what he did does not prove otherwise. After all, he resorted to something that could only be considered a trick to avoid an actual fight at a huge disadvantage. I'd be fine if he said as much (though still angry at the tournament overseers for letting it slide), I mean, it is a valid mindset for someone used to fighting to the death to use any and all methods and it's not a contestant's job to police himself for rule abidance.

Glad the friendship power bullshit didn't work. But I also agree with others' sentiment that the talk he gave was bullshit as well.

So, the heroines are wimps, huh?
Not to mention that they're sorely unbalanced and all that. They don't have any dedicated mages and all.
This is what happens when you center all the power onto one guy, the rest becomes dead weight.
