Thermus aquaticus is an extremophile (thermophilic - heat loving) bacterium that is found in the hotsprings of Yellowstone national park. It can survive temperatures from 50-80°C, but is most comfortable between 65-70°C. It is most well known for it's Taq polymerase enzyme which greatly sped up research into DNA thanks to it's stability at the high temperatures needed to denature (unfold) most proteins. Almost all research that has anything to do with DNA is able to be completed thanks to this enzyme.

Just because the magic unicorn deer has an extremely high body temperature doesn't mean it's meat is sterile, it just means the animals biome probably can't survive at lower temperatures. Still safe to eat, probably.

That only necessarily means that the story doesn't take place on Earth, not that someone from here is the protagonist.
"Isekai" means "another world" meaning somebody or something has to travel to another world. Most fantasy stories don't take place on earth but are not isekai.

Isekai means that someone from Earth goes to another world, or someone from another world comes to Earth or is sent to a different world. For example "Chill Life at Level 2" (not exact title) has the MC and his replacement summoned from a non-Earth world to another non-Earth world.

If it just takes place on another world with no transfer or reincarnation involved that's just a normal story. Unless you're going to tell me that Lord of the Rings is an Isekai.
They don't need to be from Earth, just a different world than the one they now find themselves in. There are Isekai where the MC isn't from Earth or, at the very least, our Earth. Re:Monster comes to mind.

Could someone explain the letter in the last page to me? Did it imply that she passed away or was she just keeping in touch with him with a flower and a letter?

Man, the setting and writing in this is so good.. It's rare to find something slice of life that genuinely feels like down to earth slice of life, especially in fantasy

Unless you're going to tell me that Lord of the Rings is an Isekai.
Banbarro please dont give them ideas. Rings of power makes it clear they already want to destroy what Tolkien created we dont need to make it easier for them.
Fun fact, in one of Tolkien many letters he basically said Middle-Earth is our world, modern world would be like the Seventh Age or something

Of course Tolkien was also know for over the years change his own canon through letters and never put a lot of those side lore in a proper book so you can probably ignore that if you want since it doesn't affect anything :v

As for Rings of Power, let's be real, Tolkien Estate will never change the canon, sure they might let people create something based on Middle-Earth but it'll never truly be relevant so whatever Rings of Power does is basically irrelevant glorified fanfic

Also, Shadow of Mordor / War is also arguably basically nothing but glorified fanfic but at least a good one made by people who understands and loves the work, I've heard writers of Rings of Power literally are not allowed to use a lot of things but even if they could it's clear they don't truly understand the work
