For this, I'm glad I now work at a grocer—and not a restaurant, because that only helps out with one meal per shift—and can purchase reduced-priced meat. I just bought 5x 1lbs rolls of pork sausage at $1.71 each, and I get chicken thighs when its $1.29 per pound.Shame about the BLOODY FOOD PRICES THEN!!400 grams of chicken is almost ten dollars over here! I used to get that for 7 a decade ago! Bacon was 3 dollars for a pack of 120g, real quality THICKLY SLICED portion. Now it's 6 dollars!
I do believe American grocers call that type of pie top a "Dutch crust". Is the filling custard? Lemon curd?Nice little snack chapter, perfect with a mug of coffee and a piece of "grummelkes vlaai" or crumble pie (local delicacy of the Dutch and Belgian provinces Limburg)
