I see you went with the safe option and covered both positions in the culinary war. Wouldn't want a feud in the comment section, after all.prepared with potatoes and (sometimes) onions
My my my, this is a nice development in terms of the plot. While it could be inferred from the previous chapters, that Taishou would be willing to stay in Aitheria (rather than in Japan if the connection is severed) is still a surprise to me. I am not sure if Shinobu feels the same but given how their life has mostly centered in Aitheria, only going to Japan to get materials, perhaps she feels the same.
Took me a while to formulate a response to this, sorry. They may not have a warning, and thus not a choice. The door may just stop working, sticking them in whatever world they're in at the time.
Another point I'd like to make is that giving up the modern world is a sacrifice anyway (rule of law can be a big one that you only realize when it's too late, but also the sheer abundance that we have and take for granted, but which is wholly dependent on modern economies and modern logistic chains), it's an even bigger sacrifice for women. Even if the other side seems relatively egalitarian for a medieval society, so that front's not too bad, giving birth in a medieval world sounds terrifying.
Then again, women IRL have been known to volunteer for even worse, so there's that.
I don't think all doors work the same anyway. The soy sauce door seems to work for only one person, and is passed down sometime when the heir's fetus is formed. (Which sounds super fragile to me...)Took me a while to formulate a response to this, sorry.
My point was more about how Shinobu seems to be willing to follow Taishou wherever it may take her. She's already been willing to cut off family ties just to follow Taishou (even though this has been resolved "just recently", and has somewhat mended ties with her family—I could take this as further foreshadowing, though, as shuuhari, seems to be an overarching theme in the series, also echoed somewhat in Izakaya Gen). Thus, while it might be a stretch to take this to this extreme, I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that Shinobu will be okay staying in Aitheria if that's where Taishou will stay. Indeed, women IRL have been known to volunteer for even worse, and it seems in this case, it'd be written as "I did it for love" (which was part of my point, I guess).
As for not having a choice in the matter, given what happened to the Japanese man in Celtia (Yoda), you might be correct. But then again, in Yoda's case, there was an attempt to destroy the door, which makes me wonder whether or not "the transfer of the door's control" is indeed a rule, or was an action of the kitsune in charge of that door in Celtia. So far though, there's still too little lore about how the door works, and I am willing to put it as "a kitsune did it" rather than as a rule in general.
