I think considering he's a noble he never considered eating anything with his hands, and if you only eat things with silverware then sandwiches probably isn't something considered.I guess Earl of Sandwich made it only popular. But the idea of placing something between or on top of a slice of bread was known much earlier. At least for the poor people.
And using pork for Schnitzel is just an imitation, or let's say a cheaper version. The Viennese Schnitzel must be made of veal, not other meat.
Just like how the Aiterians are unfamiliar with the Japanese dish terms, but learn them, so too are the Taisho and Shinobu unfamiliar with Aiterian terms, and even though Aiterian has its German equivalent (and is thus probably translated into the Japanese term for a Schnitzel), it's reasonable to assume that Taisho and Shinobu have never heard of the term 'Schnitzel' from all the way in Germany, but rather only know Tonkatsu or similar Asian dishes.How do they not know what a schnitzel is?
