Thank Jebus this arc is over. I've never read the novel, but this arc was so tonally dissonant with the rest of the series. It feels like an editor demanded the author add high stakes and danger to shake things up. Except that's not the appeal of the series. We're here to see people eat food and chill, not wring our hands over pointless drama.
