This is a good time to show him the dead guy has turned into a zombie. He shot him in the chest, not the head.
Not sure why he's willing to confess he's killed tons of people without detailing the circumstances behind it. At this point, it seems silly to not explain that he's got magic. But I guess he simply wants to be free to investigate the zombie apocalypse on his own and perhaps resolve it. I wonder how the girls are going to take the news.

Yanagi got too hasty, but Oda REALLY need a wake up call that you CANNOT leave any risk alive. It feels right and wrong at the same time and I understand.

With Oda being responsible for the whole group of survivors this whole time he's been on a tightrope of keeping everything together while trying to stay sane. He wants to still clutch to the parts of his humanity leftover from before the Zombie apocalypse while Yanagi has gone well past that decision point after being isekai'd and given no choice in another world.
The main point Yanagi made about Oda trying to take along the prisoner when they could have just abandoned him there and left the responsiblity out their hands was an even bigger deciding factor.

Generally people do not IMMEDIATELY die when shot in the chest. Unless he shot the guy directly in the heart he’ll die from excessive bleeding which could take hours.
