Granted, she did it entirely of her own volition, but knowing that any and all romantic feelings are forced feelings caused by the first spell she used and that she no longer has any free will over her own emotions around me, the weight of that would be too much.

I wonder if they'll expand on that coworker at some point. Without more information it could go either way whether they were trying to be helpful or mean. Obviously it would be taken as an insult but it's basically true from what we can tell. He basically is incapable of expressing himself, but he's kind of stupid in that he thinks the best way to change that is to become more insensitive. No just speak up for yourself dimwit. Try to make an actual connection with people instead of being a human folding chair.

What... Why would you even write that as a plot element? You wrote a fluffy slice of life romcom... But then add an element that will undercut any potential emotional development between the characters because magic is forcing her to like him...?

Love at first sight is already arbitrary and can be added at will as a reason for sudden romantic interest, why add mind control?

This seems less like mind control and more like tipping the scale to see the other person more favorably. She seems to still have her own thoughts on Akio aside from the spell's effects so its not like she has ZERO control over her actions and thoughts.

That said... the amount of control might not be very high either considering how easily she falls into a "crazed" state, but this could be what happens when her normal thoughts of Akio and the spell's effects combine as one.

Either way, it does add a bit of spice to this story so I guess I can see why the author went this route.
