From what i read from later in the novel, it's good that almus didn't kill him here, if he did then he'd have probably had a difficult time dealing with the rigur family later on as a successor would gain power still and he couldn't justify taking out the rigur family wholesale, with this after almus successfully wins a war with a enemy nation and is effectively crowned king, he has justification to wipe out those families that opposed him openly, aka rigur's (though to be fair, it's a pretty brutal slaughter in the novel, though the justification is a legitimate one with plenty of examples in history, it might be a difficult one for some people)

@Kaarme A normal Human maybe but a group with good blessings might be able to do something. Of note while we assume that a Dragon is stronger than a Griffon maybe in this world the Griffin is actually the stronger one.

"To honor this old tradition, ranged weapons, poison or any other weapons that are deemed cowardice ar not recomended."
What a fantastic flag to point out that Rigar is gonna use a poisoned hidden weapon.

They didnt mention it here, but in novel they mentioned fairies love to troll, so them having the same blessing is no coincidence, its on purpose. Though the fairies are raising the mc and rigard is more like his test.

So I get the feeling Rigar/Rigald/Rigardio whatever is gonna use poison, surrender and cement himself as scum infront of everyone.

Or the author might just be introducing extraneous information with the "surrender/cowardly and everyone will hate you"

@rrrrrrr Look at the excesses of nobility throughout history and you'll see that this "evil for the sake of evil that makes 0 sense" is honestly either par for the course or barely a blip on the radar, depending on time period.

just a guess but im thinking that its gonna turn out to be that although Dibel has the same blessing, and people below him, most of Dibels subjects dont see him as a king or atleast their king because he mistrearted them. While almus has fewer subjects but most of them do see Almus as their king. Which is why almus is stronger. just a guess.

My guess is the scumbag don't know Almus had the same blessing?
If not he wouldn't be so confident.

Blessings of the king gain power with subordinate loyalty, the question is why dibel's subordinate loyal to that scum, coward, greedy and incompetent feudal lord? Is there no soldier that think oppress their own people is wrong?

Well you tend to become a bit loyal when your corrupt boss pays you to stay quiet, or look the other way.
The only reason why Almus probably cannot curbstomp him yet is because he is probably not that known in the kingdom for now.

@8bitholic you would be surprised how many people stay loyal to such a person because their family or themselves always served the family and that this is the reason they stay loyal.
Young ones are as corrupted like that guy and like him and the old people say: we were always loyal and that wont change, maybe his children or grandchildren will be better again.

Such stupidity is rather human, which you can see in our real world quite too much too.
