You're severely overestimating compassion of a modern human, not everyone are woke protectors of social justice. Often humans are just scams and their quality differs a lot in different countries. In some of them (countries) it's a part of culture.
Also, if I'm not wrong, MC has already killed a lot of people by the moment. I doubt there left any place for self-delusion inside of him.
Additionally, I don't feel he considers their lives disposable. It's just that Roxanne is really more suited for the vanguard compared to MC. He will put everyone in danger by choosing the wrong position out of empty self-righteousness. There is nothing wrong to feel at ease being protected by a good comrade. I believe he will defend them to the death if there is a need.
@MangaRockRefugee
And where did I supposedly say 'magic craft' anything? Hammer some metal, stitch some leather, set some rivets. You can do lots of crafting things with no magic required. Humans have done it since before the bronze age.
And there's a difference between a hammer and a mace. Quite a few of them. You're just trying to lump them together. But if you did that, club would get tossed in because they're all heavy or blunt weapons, not 'hammer class' anything.
To become a mastersmith, a super lucrative and important job that drives good part of the labyrinths industry, and can create a huge number of weapons, armor and accessories, not to mention its main feature, adding powerful effects to everything.
This super important profession, that many desire and is super hard to get... the condition is.......
Kill 2 monsters with 1 hammer swing...
A random lv 5 dwarf villager can get this god tier class, whit 1 swing of a hammer.... its important to mention that even at villager lv 1 a dwarf is strong enough to swing heavy weapons.... its a ridiculous... you just need to get the 2 weakest monsters, literally hold them with you arms (anyone with a party of 6 or at high level can do it), and them allow a dwarf to hit and kill the monsters...
The MasterSmith have all special abilities i listed above, plus great passive combat buffs, not to mention it have an item box of 50x50 items, equivalent to a lv 50 explorer, or a lv 1 adventurer that requires lv 50 explorer anyway.... and all that at lv 1, the item box does not increase in size, but who cares??? rogruighguoireuogog, i was so disappointed!
I mean, as soon as he gets to the lower levels of the labyrinth, monsters'll be showing up in the rearguard as well.
If we go by the rules they set for these dungeons, then the lower and bottom levels are PACKED with monsters that would make the rearguard the vanguard simply by frequency.
so his next harem is probably slave that was treated poorly by her old master.... and mc being gentlemen gonna treat her gracefully? anyone can confirm if this theory is right?
My diary to this day
"I woke up.
I made coffee and sip and receive the pleasure of morning nature ambience.
I turn on my computer.
I browse the recent updates.
Out of 20 updates, my eye catches this update.
I Open.
My son wakes up without even reading the first word of the update.
I got excited.
I close my eyes and started remembering the precious chapter, it was so much fun.
I finished read this chapter.
I close my computer with full smiles on my face."
@Riger
Just six chapters ago, in 39, you have been explained to what 'Hammer class' is, spoken openly by Sherry and Michio. I'm not making this shit up.
Also in that world people do the regular, mundane crafting all over the place, but only select dorfs can use the 'magick' one. If mundane crafting was the trigger there would be more smith dorfs. It's just the lore of that world
@DLRevan
Yeah, I know, I've read the WN and am reading the LN as well, he was in a really bad spot before he was Isekai'd.
@goodhunter
That's the thing that Roxanne herself stated, as a slave as far as she's concerned, she is disposable. She even refused Michio's offer to amend her slave contract to set her free after his death because as far as she's concerned, if he did die, she screwed up and failed to protect him so she'd rather die with him.
@Riger
The logic of this particular setting is insane, remember that they got the Herbalist Job from picking up a leaf from a boss monster's drop, it implies that that's the only to get that job, defeat a monster and be the first to pick up the drop to gain the job. Of course the world's residents aren't privvy to the particulars, but the logic is still wonky. Not to mention that MP is directly linked to someone's mental wellbeing and production classes that use MP have suicide rates, like the Master Smiths.
@joel7686
Boy oh boy, wait until you read on, there's all kinds of Class Experimentation going on and it gets ridiculous.
Like meditating under a waterfall ridiculous.
@MW2366
That's why Roxanne's ability to sniff out monsters is such a boon to Michio, he's actually really talented at tactics so he uses that to get himself into an advantageous position before the fight begins. His growth in this regard is honestly impressive.
