"I know the kind of flour this village produces & the climate of this region. Your plan won't work."
He must be the kind of player that reads the rule book more throughout than DM, speaks to all the NPCs, rolls investigate & cast insight on everything all of the time...

He didn't even call his allies.

Interesting application of shape change restrictions.

Depending on your version of DnD, when a shape-shifted character reaches 0hp in the shaped form, they revert to the old form with the same hp they had before shifting, and then take the overflow damage.

The risk of being that close and having them revert, survive and retaliate wasn't worth it.

Poisonous Spider, gets stuck on the soles of the feet, lose 1 hp.

The end of Solomon Groundy
It's not like he's barefoot, or wearing shoes with the thinness soles possible, especially because of the HP reason.

So he's the one who first thought of a dust explosion. But at least that explains why MC didn't do it, which closes that plot hole.

That Staggering Strike is a bit different from the D&D 5E version. Stunning Strike just requires a ki point and can be used on any melee attack, for as many attacks in a single turn as you can spend the ki point for. The stunned condition lasts one round, which gives you advantage on attacks, but it can also be negated with a con save.

Meta gamer to the max. Would probably get thrown out of most groups, or punished by the DM.

And if you wait, the enemy will need to use their action to revert, which means you now have your turn to act immediately.
