The premise sucks but I think it would be funny if he incorporated the prestige system from incremental-idle games and each time he resets to get prestige points he reincarnates in a different world.

Actually you CAN do trigonometry without basic mathematical operations. If you use a bunch of rulers and work with ratios and relative lengths, you can achieve a substantial amount of triangle work without a calculator. The whole point of mathematics is that it is a language that attempts to explain reality. Other languages exist, in more intuitive and limited forms.

He means you cannot do complex math without understanding basic calculation.
And often, trigonometry is a kid math nightmare.

I wonder if kids today can do calculus.

if you look into the crap that goes into competitive pvp games, kids can do some pretty complex stuff when it's framed in more intuitive ways.

The biggest advantage of academic math is communicating ideas to each other. If we're talking about performing in the short term, both humans and animals can find crazy shortcuts for multi-dimensional problems.

Discarding multiple bodies/universes sounds kind of messed up, like what happens to them when he leaves, and wouldn't he miss precious people and places behind?
However, it does sound like a fresh idea that would give the author an excuse to keep MC as a kid, give him different childhoods, do various themes (fantasy, sci-fi, post-apocalyptic), acquire different skills... and axe the story without a definitive conclusion if the author runs out of material to work with.

The thing is that you always advance more when you're actively playing the idle game. And also prestiging is a huge part of idle games and I don't see how he is going to prestige.

Author probably doesn't actually play idle games. Just like how authors of gun-based manga don't actually know jack about gun.s

Or like how the authors of video game based manga seem to have never played a video game in their life. Sword Art Online regardless of murder game part of it would just be a really shit MMORPG.

It's funny though that there really is an insane number of games out there, even MMO's that are just god awful and play even worse than some of the stuff we see in the game-based novels. studio's pumping out titles because they are "profitable" with no care about if they are actually good or not 😩

SAO(the game) kinda made sense when you look at the reception of recent realworld games like concord and marathon. It had the added debuff of being a "new console" 'launch title' with only a beta test under its belt. it went full deathgame before it even had the chance to have QoL updates that most half-decent titles have gotten. the guy basically had a dream-world he wanted to make 'real', but it only had a rough form and he was more interested in the tech behind the gear used to play the game than making an actually decent game... have seen a few of those over the years too... "we love the story and decided to make it a game just for the sake of it" kind of adaptations.

so far at least it looks like the kid is going to try and make his idea work within the confines of existing magic? and not just some god granted gift power that did it for him? need more chapters to know for sure if its worth continuing to follow the story or not though :S

The Sword Art online video game only sold a batch of 10,000 copies which is impressive for books but when it comes to MMOs that is one of the biggest failures ever

I didn't even understand why Sword Art Online would be a popular game considering it a fantasy MMO where you can't use magic and all the ranged options are extremely limited. The entire point of a fantasy MMO is that you can use Magic. Because why would you make it fantasy otherwise?

I'm guessing its like a "popular niche" rather than mass market popularity?

fantasy as a genre doesnt really require or demand the inclusion of "magic", thats more so specific sub genre's of fantasy. it's just that 'most' things we see labeled as fantasy are pretty much "high fantasy" or a blend between high and urban fantasy etc. cause magic is romance and all that jazz ahaha and many authors love magical stuff. make a story about a mercenary in space and suddenly you have a science/space fantasy story, there's no "magic" but when abilities that are magical-ish appear it's just "psychic powers" etc at play.

I would absolutely play a good semi-realistic melee only VR game in a fantasy setting if I could swing around a spear even if it lacked stuff like magic or most projectiles, definitely if it allowed players to strategise their gear via racial/specie traits of fantasy setting humanoids. but maybe we wouldn't see it become a smash hit due to lacking what most would expect to see just because its labelled 'fantasy'. that said there are some incredibly popular fantasy titles that have extremely little presence of magic in them I'm sure fans would want to play even if you couldnt play as one of the magical roles.🤔
