I'm honestly fairly bothered that 90% of her spells are labeled "clean". Honestly, I think the word "restore" works better for a spell that brings it to a previous state (which might be cleaned, but typically repaired from what we've seen)

Oh, and I half suspect she's using such powerful magic because she's shortening her life, or something, when using magic.

What if it restores the physical, but can't bring back the soul? Just a perfectly healthy empty body for an unsettling Monkey's Paw situation. Good for organ transplant surgeries since I fear using the ability on a live person would fuck their brain up.

Since it's an isekai, the existence of souls is a given in this world. Otherwise, a time reversed brain would still have the personality and memories before it died. Hmm...

I do wonder if there will be a point in the story where she "cleans" a dead animal back to life. But then you could make the point that animals don't have souls in this world's setting.

The inverse would be interesting to see, where all things have a soul of some sort (I think it's called animism?). It could then limit what she could "clean" as in torn socks might still have the soul of the socks, slightly damaged antiques too, while a dead fly might have already lost its soul hence it can't be "cleaned' back to life.

She could technically "clean" a now flattened mountain on which a humongous castle stood a thousand years ago if it was a plain time-reversing ability. I do wonder how her magic actually works and if it'll be ever fully explained in the story.

Edit: Or there could be an even simpler restriction where she can only "clean" stuff that helps her family or others close to her.

Yeah, I like the idea of overpowered 'common/household' spells, but there should be some kind of limit.

Hopefully it's explained but it seems that her body was fairly weak at the beginning? Living in a cold house, getting sick (recovering from it), not getting enough food and nutrients. I could only guess she's getting healthier and maybe using her magic more often helps increase the capacity for its use?

But anyways, hope her academy life goes well!

Not sure if this helps (or if it's what the author was going for), but:

What she says (綺麗になれ - kirei ni nare) is very literally an order to become clean (kirei), so the translation is certainly not wrong.

But "kirei" has a broader meaning than just "clean". If you watch anime in Japanese, you might've seen some scene where a boy sees a beautiful girl and murmurs "kirei", meaning beautiful. In My Dress-Up Darling it's the same kirei/beautiful that Gojo says is special to him.

A dictionary says: (adj-na) (1) pretty; lovely; beautiful; fair; (adj-na) (2) (uk) clean; clear; pure; tidy; neat.

So, maybe the world is interpreting it as "become beautiful", where "beautiful" is based on the image she had in her head while casting the spell.

Or maybe I'm just trying too hard to make sense of it...
