Welp, at least Paitence has not yet resorted to that great Isekai money making device, a flushing toilet.
The warning was that it was not "proper for a lady" rather than it being dangerous. Thus why it was about being accompanied by a maid and not about having a guard.I thought something awful was going to happen to her on her trip to the market since she ignored everyone's advice and went unaccompanied. But nothing happened at all. Since when do they throw Chekhov’s gun into the garbage?
Yes it gets hinted a bit during this upcoming arc and later on whendoes the author explain that incident in the novel?
Well, they all warned her about the alchemy club too.I thought something awful was going to happen to her on her trip to the market since she ignored everyone's advice and went unaccompanied. But nothing happened at all. Since when do they throw Chekhov’s gun into the garbage?
Oh man, I'm embarrassed to say I didn't catch that on my re-reads. It has been updated, thank you. There’s repeated text at the bottom right of page 25 and thus one of the bubbles is untranslated (さあ台所に急ぎましょう)

This isn't that kind of typical isekai story. It's a low-stakes, slow-life series where the MC regularly discovers new ingredients, cooks new dishes, and find the time to invent new creations for her club and friends. Things only pick up a bit once she is in her senior year and goes on her second summer vacation.I thought something awful was going to happen to her on her trip to the market since she ignored everyone's advice and went unaccompanied. But nothing happened at all. Since when do they throw Chekhov’s gun into the garbage?
Wow the father is braindead. He can literally see their food and wealth situation improving, which his daughter did WHILE getting perfect scores WHILE SKIPPING GRADES
A deadbeat drunkard would have more awareness than this.
Also, her idea of little by little looks like her whole body weight.
He pretty much is a deadbeat. However noble his intentions at work were, it lead to his daughter literally dying of illness due to the unlivable conditions in the house. Her brothers would have likely followed suit later, if not for the MC's efforts. Utterly ridiculous guy. He is the one who should have been running around making every bit of cash possible from day one.In terms of the father, there are definitely circumstances that put the family in the position that Patience found herself in after reincarnating.
Mind you, the father is a bit of a head-in-the-clouds person as you can already see.
I'm current on the web novel, so that entire plot line has been fully explained - heavy spoilers that is past even JNC's current volumes.
... basically, there are two groups of nobles in the country, one that believes in full aristocratic rights, and one that is more open. The father falls in the latter category and, as the Minister of Education, wanted to ensure that commoners and lower nobility could attend the Academy. The aristocratic group couldn't stop the policy, but used their powers to oust him from his ministerial post.
One of the aristocratic group just so happened to be the patron of Julianna's family (Patience's mother), which meant they also had to cut ties with the family, just as Julianna got sicker, leading to her death.
At the same time, others in that group also conspired with the previous butler to scam the father as he was depressed from Julianna's death, making outrageous loans that sapped their finances. To compound the issue, one of his sister's territory also suffered a famine, and he loaned what little remained to help.
That sort of leads into the start of the story, where OG Patience passes away, and Patience takes over.
There is a resolution to this plot line, but this is just to explain the father and the family financial situation.
Oh, and the family does not own land. They are nobles of the robe.
