@Solipsist

ohh right i remember the wolf god berserk thing, thats why he's impulsive af, tnx
i get that he still has the old worlds common sense but he lacks a bit of foresight imo( well just me nitpicking)

@Wnf
that is true, but our ossan here is a working adult before the isekai truck sent him over, he should have a bit of experience dealing with persistently rude and scheming customer, like our bad guys here - then again as solopsist pointed to me it could be the wolf god blessing thing.

all in all i like the story , just not this arc - the whole orphanage church thing doesnt make sense atm . orphanages runs on sponsorship/donation for operation having debt woulnt make sense, and our hero has lost a few senses of logic, or maybe i just have been reading too much isekai and our hero doesnt fit that picture im used to imo,

Some people already stated, that they become annoyed. I try to put my finger on it.

The story becomes confusing, as some of the characters aren't behaving as you would expect. And I don't mean they are subverting our expectations, but they really act unlogical, over the top edgy or act braindead. Also, the author is trying way too hard to create something like a smart looking cloak and dagger setting and fails. For that he let them overlook the most obvious things in their world. He forces them to act in a specific way, so a certain setting is created, even though such characters would never act that way.

1. That evil merchant and MC act the most logical in that confrontation, as they act according to what they want , but the evil merchant is overdoing it so much, he is risking that they do something stupid, like burning everything down out of spite. He became so unbelievable stupid evil. That's his alignment: Evil/Stupid.

2. MC is just showing his angry face all the time. Everyone is telling him to hold back, while that merchant is clearly going over his boundaries. How about not letting him take those children, so that he has to come back with the law? In the meantime let the guild evaluate the worth of the snake hides and make those corrupt watchmen confess. "Oh, he bribed those guardsmen, so that the other party can't meet the deadline? That can't be lawful." Obscure him where ever possible. That's what even villagers did in the middle ages and people still tend to do nowadays.

3. But the setting around the old merchant takes the cake. Captain Obvious saw the worth of technology. How wise. It's obvious, that the way this situation is written reeks of "He is so wise.", but in the end he stated stuff everyone concerned would/should have noticed before. So a magical device can be bound to certain persons. How can anyone (especially Evil-Merchent) overlook to check that?

4. Also: What was his objective here? Helping Mr.Evilnstupid? Maybe testing him? That might have created a mysterious aura, if it weren't for the fact, that the readers just can't comprehend how characters might act in the next moment. Do they act like a normal person, do they suddenly break down in resignment or anger or do they lose IQ-points? So I don't care to look into Mr. Wiseguy's motivation, as that could be anything and not be of concern in the next moment. That also leads to not comprehending why MC is bowing his head infront of him. I know, because that wise man is soooo wise.

Conclusion: We don't read a living and breathing story, that is naturally unfolding, but are just guessing, what the author wants us to see.

@Kevadu I forget the name of the manga, but all the mc has to day is say die and he can kill anything has those exact kinds of people. So drunk on power they kill and enslave all those opposed to them or who they wanted. Some of no matter where we go can't betray our morals.

@narutaki Can't remember exactly, but I could have sworn the nun was tricked into it or she was just foolish and didn't really understand how money works

@Qelix Before all that their claims to the land are in the previous disposed lord's name. There was never anything binding Takuma or the orphanage aside from the threat of violence. I mean it's a church run by nuns, it would be expected it falls under eminent domain or it's considered property of whatever faith it's associated with. Someone with a higher court rank was helping to build that hot spring like 2 chapters earlier.

When merchants do things like this it ends in pogroms and exile.

Knew it, it was stated from the start and yet, MC too retarded to catch it. I mean...look, he's an old guy and had lived in modern society on top of that, not realizing that is unbelievable.

@Le_Butters Maybe I'd be a terrible person, but that guy is just asking for it. He had his unreasonable demand fulfilled and still acting as a greedy fuck. As for the organization or the kingdom? If you are at a power where such things doesn't matter, like the Ossan here, they doesn't matter at all. The rule of the strongest especially applies to medieval soceities like that.

People who say that asking the mc to kill those guys is being immature are really naive. If an armed robber breaks into your house and threatens your family and you have a gun, are you seriously saying you should negotiate with him? There should be escalating forms of actions to take depending on the situation and that's precisely what this story's flaws are. Nearly every bad guy in this story are absolute scum, there's no small role villian that does petty or selfish things to induce minor hate from readers but big time evil that cause major contempt and disgust. Even the art style encourages that kind of emotion. The fact that the story introduces this kind of characters repeatedly and with this form of art style, it is indeed frustrating how the mc's behavior are like that of a schoolboy who hesitates to do something when he sees others forcing children to be slaves. It would be great if he would be able to outwit them with a plan, but since he isn't smart enough to do so, why doesn't he use the only strong point he has which is violence instead of doing nothing to help?

I can hardly keep up with the story anymore. Every time a new chapter comes out, I can barely remember what happened prior to the current events of the latest chapter.

@xEternalSoul You lost me the moment you tried to compare this to an armed robbery. This is literally just a loan shark. Would you take a Glock to your tax collector? If so, then you probably need to get yourself sectioned.

Injustices happen all over the world legally, and this is no different.An armed uprising to free Julian Assange would not solve the inherent issue of him being prosecuted in the first place.

@Aretheus maybe if you read it properly, you would have seen that I was talking in general about all the antagonists in the manga not just this specific instance. Furthermore, if you are trying to compare the setting in the story to real world, you seriously need to reexamine your thoughts. The laws of that world are more primitive and predominantly based on medieval nobility and caste. Bets on whether those kids will be saved by the law if the mc lets the loan shark take them away. On the other hand where violence is concerned, comparing an armed rising to someone with tremendous magic power granted by a God and becoming one of the strongest individuals in the world, nice joke.

When the education system focuses on conformity, the people end up with terrible critical thinking skills. Doesn't matter how old he was, if he only learned to do what the bosses tell him to.

From start to now, this manga is confusing as shit - there's something, but there's too much crap around, I can't find the actual ideas in it.

Oh my GOD! You boy who came from a modern world know nothing of all the modern tech and machines you've brought values to? Oh dear me! As an avid reader of fantasy, a techy person who loves technologies and knows business (since my family owns one) all of the technologies and their potential to make money Were All Enormous! Man, I wanna smack his head.

Why am I supposed to be rooting for this guy, who clearly has brain damage?
