" Garf you aren't wearing armor"
"OH SHIT so that's what's been going on!"
Lol thanks for the upload

AND using a wooden sword
given how he mentioned his fights in Taiju being mainly evasion focused, he probably also didn't have a sword clash with anyone to make it clear that his wooden sword is tougher than it appears as well

in other :pacman: news from the RAW
Since Hakuren's son is already marked by the dark dragon's leader's daughter as her future husbando.

They are thinking of giving Hiraku "Dragon Lord" title, so that in the future his son can inherit that title + son's pairing with dark dragon's daughter would also bring both their lineage together.

"is it common to act tough when you not" lol it's cliche but you'd think fellow adventurers would respect other fighters or lived long enough to know that there'd always be someone stronger unless they literally never lost before versus an upper class noble who's never been in a real fight but looking down on ppl lol

Someone got used to the forest where everything not ridiculously OP just dies,

Not surprised he got a lot of offers.

Nice to see a familiar face.

Even if they can perfectly hit between the seams of your armour, it doesn't make armour useless. You can still protect your vitals, and unless you're going to lose regardless, they have fewer targets if you have armour on, which makes defence easier.

If he needs to train for Taiju standards, he needs to get out of that normie place.

"Please don't disassemble and reverse engineer the trap box right away, please."
Already assuming it's a lost cause of having them not do it. Which is probably the right conclusion.

It's one of those things where the less you know, the more you think you're at the top. Need to get out of the well and see the world.

Well, i suppose it is a tournament 'for fun/glory' as opposed to some unofficial 'against another country' thing or "ppl who spent years in the middle of a war torn battle field"

Tho i'm surprised they wouldn't all be using wooden swords or at least hand to hand combat prevent injury or so b/c i can totally imagine some malicious person, even if it got them 'disqualified' to amputate a person on purpose or so (even if they are also allowed armor)

Historically, such "accidents" that removed a troublesome individual or settled some revenge score sometimes happened during tournaments. But they also used armour to prevent those accidents. Tournament armour tended to be more protective than battlefield armour, in particular for jousting.

Whatever we think about safety in these tournaments, people back then had widely different concerns about it. So while I'd also disagree with their standards, it's still plausible and realistic (as far as this fantasy goes).

Re: protecting vitals

Even if Garf wore heavier non-segmented armor (like plate), I'm guessing Taijuboos would just spall the armor with a finger flick

And that's assuming they dont target your joints and legs first, which would be less armored

In that case lighter armour wouldn't protect much at all.

But it really depends what kind of rules they have. If they're fighting sufficiently non-lethal, like some point system, you wouldn't need armour at all if they're that good. And if they can just attack wherever they want, there's no point to it either, since the power discrepancy is way too high.

Anyway, my point was that if he needed armour at all, and armour works enough that they go for the gaps rather than hitting through the armour, then it's not useless.

This is a universe where people lost to humans right? I swear I remember that being a plot point earlier. I'm really confused how humans became a dominant group outside the forest when they can't even use spears right.

Thanks for the chapter
