That takafumi rant seems like a hint from the author, its like he is saying that this story wont end in tragedy, or maybe its the exact opposite and the author is trying to say that no matter what we cant escape reality, it will always hit us eventually. I agree though, that's just fucking unfun and makes the whole series sad in retrospect.
I feel like too many authors do deconstructions because "drama is above comedy/fun" which is annoying nowadays. IMO it's starting become a crutch for poor writers.

Too many darker versions and/or deconstructions nowadays that they became mainstream.
Kinda like the problem with Superman. They keep making him "hoho what if Superman was evil".
Ojisan author understands and probably felt the pain of reading/watching a fun series, and then suddenly the rug gets pulled out from them because no, DRAMA happened!
