Well, I’m out. I’ve seen enough isekai that have the MC be engaged to a little kid, don’t need to add another to the pile.

He's obviously not going through with it, this is just another portion of the story where he'll grow a bit more of a spine.
He very clearly has no intent to say yes but is to much of a wuss to say no to her enthusiasm out of fear of hurting her feelings rather than some deep down desire to marry a child. This story is too emotionally grounded for that to ever happen and it feels weird people are assuming that anything other than him being forced to grow as a person some more will happen.

She did say she'd wait until adult (+4 years) before consummating their marriage. So if he agrees, then all the best for them, I won't have any beef with the pairing.

I appreciate all the commenters giving the author the benefit of the doubt, and wondering why the protagonist doesn't simply give a firm and decisive "No" to his fawning child bride, like a normal adult would, as if being forced by external social pressure into accepting her isn't the whole point of this development. The author wouldn't have come up with this hackneyed "wetting an unconscious dying child's lips with water is the same as proposing to them" contrivance if they didn't want him to be engaged to a child in the end.

But our loser salaryman MC can't seem  too eager about becoming romantically entangled with a child; that would be gauche. Much better for the audience surrogate to give some token protestations about the situation before he reluctantly acquiesces, so he can be given the child bride without looking like an obvious paedophile. He's even going to wait until she is Of Age before consumating the relationship! What a good guy he is! But not when she's an adult, that would be too scary. Let's say 15, that's close enough to maturity in Fantasy Land (that the author has complete creative control over) without spoiling the fantasy. Why is it important to the fantasy that the MC's bride still be a child on their wedding night? Don't ask awkward questions.

People are throwing a hissy fit over under-aged people having relationships as usual. :nyoron:
Don´t get me wrong i understand people find it unpleasant as most modern social standards consider it to early.

But a Fantasy story about a different world having social standards being different is not that odd.
And it is not gonna stop me from enjoying the hijinx of a man exploring the world with a car. :wowee:
From a historical point of view it was not even that uncommon, some madmen even thought 7 was ok once upon a time.:lewd:

MC having the backbone of a wet noodle is the bigger issue IMO.:aquadrink:
If he finds the whole thing uncomfortable(which he seem to do ) he should say so instead of just doing nothing.
And if not, fuck social preconceptions and do whatever you want.:chad:

I'm also annoyed that he is complaining about not having a fridge, but packs around an induction burner to cook with.

12v fridges pull next to no power compared to how much juice that little burner takes.

And now introducing the 2024 Mitsubishi Outback phev, more stranger danger than a white van, more capable of suspension of disbelief than a TARDIS
