Having read up to the most recent translated chapter, I will say...7/10. That isn't bad in my mind; what I like about this is how it evokes a feeling of the manga of the past to some degree
checks tags no adaptation tag huh...yeah that checks. In a glut of light novel adaptations, this feels fresh, in the sense that you don't see it much these days. Just plain, good old dumb manga adventure fun.

R Pro/Cons up to Chapter 43:
Pros-
-Fun story with if not amazingly deep relatively endearing characters
-A classic shonen fantasy adventure style you don't see in comparison with most isekai
-Fantasy world vs guns is implemented pretty well here and in some entertaining ways
-Adult protagonist
-No ecchi and no harem (not that these are necessarily bad but in the contexts of this story in particular, also I hope this ages well)
-Dark Elf lady primal instincts activated
Cons-
-I can't help but feel like this could go in a harem direction just by the amount of female characters are following this guy
-The gun explanations can be kind of silly, although as someone who has only shot guns maybe a few times I don't mind it
-The plot beats are for the most part very predictable
-Stupid fun story is, in fact, rather stupid and convoluted at times
I've read through the comments here, and maybe that's where my feelings differ: This is a silly, lighthearted story, and that's going to take precedent over doing some sort of in-depth commentary on corruption or authoritarian control. I take this the same way as how most shonen would not spend a large amount of their pages dwelling on the horrors inflicted upon captive women or something like that; it's not really necessary to getting across the point of the story, and in fact would just weigh it down. It's funny that I'm even saying this when usually I'm the one in the corner thinking "this needs to be taken more seriously" but this just feels so nostalgic I can't help but give it a pass. Let me put it this way: A lot of isekai wants to play like it's mature, when really, it refuses to go all the way. It wants its graphic sexual assault scenes with none of the respect given to the victims. It wants its genocidal, monstrous empire but none of the political commentary necessary to actually tackle it. This story understands what it wants to be. It wants to be fun. It doesn't want you to take it too seriously. And I value something that is honest about itself, I suppose. Something earnest. Also I don't know a ton about guns so any incorrect facts are not going to faze me. Those are my feelings, I guess.
