@Kaarme oh I beleive you there, years of peace are amazing but one must not forget how to do some war, i mean, changing series here for a second, i love how in gate the japanese win just because there are thousands of years of extreme aggresion between countries and thus can fully use the technologies brought by the will of people to kill each other efficiently.

And on the side of war crimes I just read a manga https://mangadex.org/title/51950/kage-no-kyuuteimajutsushi where you could argue that the protagonist commited like 3 or four war crimes and just took some cows and shoot some people on the back :D

@ryouhira
remember, mc comes from modern times, a flamethrower isn't exactly difficult to make, its just everything that leads up to it, the ideas needed to make it possible, are what hold it back, also making them relatively safe and portable.

Why are people talking about war crimes here ?

War is war guys. The only reason we restricts certain types of weapons is because of the risk of colateral damage. Mustard gaz, antipersonnel mines, submunitions weapons can easily affects civilians and thus are restricted. Napalm got added after Vietnam if it's close to civilians.

Just because a weapon is particularly brutal it doesn't mean it's prohibited. We don't limit ourselves with mortars and guns in modern warfare.

War is war, it's not wrong to overwhelm them with technology. Kind of stupid if u got something to overturn the pace of war bcs of doesn't want to use his knowledge.

Unless their target also civilian and not only the soldier. And no poison.

Dropped.
Just being tired how wikipedia connection in Baluds head seems to work just fine decade after those 2 ghosts got stuck in there and how process of creating something or obtaining means to create it doesnt have any weight in the equation.

Quick and off the hip without using internet, try to remember how you obtain and refine crude oil, sulfur, resin/pitch, saltpeter and quicklime, and especially WHERE you obtain all those raw materials. Means to make greek fire is lost in the history of time but materials can be deduced by the effects that weapon had. Time to reinvent that weapon.

edit. language was bit too volatile earlier. Just dejected how these things get more and more preposterous each passing chapter.

@chendu They don't have to poke their heads out though? Read my comment again: "Uhh, can't arrows arc? Why didn't they shoot up? "
They should still be able to shoot arrows while in the trench, without looking. The accuracy would just be near 0, but if enough arrows rain, some would hit regardless. -- I think the author forgot about this because trenches were introduced with firearms, thus arcing shots were 'out-of-style' (aka no effect because bullets are meant to fly; lightweight). Then again, arrow rain would be that effective either, because projectile weapon deals damage due to acceleration, and the arrows would first have to lose the acceleration, to fall, though they gain some due to gravity, it would need to be really high, to do enough, unless the lucky hit (as mentioned before).

Also, speaking of, how come they weren't attacking the flamethrower guys as well? They were basically setting up what looked like a cannon for crying out loud.

@Wireath Ah right, well they could but they don't have the supplies to waste arrows that might or not touch ennemies Also once again the mangas shows it poorly but the flamethrower were set a bit back compared to were they're taking fire, they're also put out once the magicians stop their shooting else they'd shot their own troop
