She's cute sleeping.

You wouldn't use both tools at the same time. If you're digging up the soil, you're not cutting the weeds, since you're digging them up. And later when you're cutting weeds among your crops, you're not digging anything up. Unless maybe if you're very careful, but that's not a careful tool.

Also, some weeds will take root again even if you dig them up as long as you don't remove all of them. That's more likely to happen if you cut them down, since it's harder to pick up smaller pieces of weeds.

Burning weeds would be good before planting. Probably even preferable, if you can do it completely, since it provides nutrients with the ashes. And if you're at the stage where you're digging and removing rocks, you haven't planted, so burning would be good.

If you've already dug up a bunch of soil, it should be soft already.

Plant no likie burny girl.

If everything she ate was green and bitter, why did no one think of doing something about it?

There are just so many things wrong here... They're doing more work than necessary without any benefit.

At least she turned out fine. So earnest.

About not really cleaning the weeds, you can chalk it up to how MC can fast-forward and even skip a lot of farming steps due to plant goddess' blessing. He can insta-grow these plants with the plants absorbing the surrounding nutrients quickly, so burning the field is not really necessary if the "grounded" weeds can already get absorbed as nutrients. He already fast-forwarded his plants' growth so that he can harvest plants that normally needs weeks or months to grow in just few days. People also don't normally use weed burning in a forest; there's a high risk of the fire spreading to other flammable materials (like dry twigs and leaves) and structures.

It's MC's perk: the blessing made all the plants he cultivated far tastier than those growing wild.

Nice to have her realize her errors so earnestly. I wish the mochi fruit existed for real 😭

As @jhs_reika said, but it may also be a difference in "cuisine" and available (or understood) resources. If they either don't know how to make vegetables taste good, or only have the ability to grow a very limited (and bitter) set of vegetables it would explain this.
What would also explain this is the "everyone who goes from Earth to [another world] is smart and everyone in [another world] is ignorant" trope that is often over-abused.

Also, with regards to the issues with the farming itself, wasn't the MC as far separate from farming in his previous life as the character of Stardew Valley before reincarnating? (Some kind of office work if I recall, I would check, but already lost one good post to my phone unloading and refreshing a tab so...)
Really, not only the MC, but possibly the Mangaka as well could be completely ignorant of real world farming. Far too often people don't research (or deeply research) their subject material...

Not that your wrong about the MC abilities, but burning the weeds would have accomplished the same goal, but faster. Sure she would still need to till the land after, but controlled burns to clear the land do much the same thing. It worked for thousands of years, and was only restricted in use due to the current pollution levels and because it annoys the city folk.

Depends on the culture and region. Here in the PNW of the US, the Native Americans would migrate between the coast in the autumn and winter and the foot hills of Cascade Mountains during the spring and summer.

In the fall on their way to the coast they would burn the land behind them. It enriched the land, caused several species of evergreens to seed, and helped keep the forest understory free from clutter.

Now days the forest floor is littered with brier, weedy bushes and all manner of clutter. Entire forests burn yearly due to the mismanagement.

---edit---
Because of derpy sentence structure.

I don't think that girl can do "controlled burning" though. :dogkek:

The author seems quite deliberate in addressing the frequent complaint about brats being let off the hook just because they're cute girls. Normally you don't see that much focus on getting them to realize the consequences of their actions.
She was brat at first but now I'm seeing her in a good light.
She's a sheltered child who was bored out of her mind, a proud demon who respects only strength, and a picky eater who never had a yummy vegetable dish. Dealing with her issues properly gave her a new way of looking at things.
