Claire is thorough.

An ant for silk, and not a spider. That's unusual. Weaver ants absolutely exist, though. Their bests kind of look like that, but it's a bit hard to see the leaves they use as walls in the picture. But I still prefer spiders.

"At least there won't be any sudden invasions by the Demon King."
But perhaps sudden visits.

Always talking about the odor of meat (and fish). It's like they hate the taste and smell of meat, so they do everything to change it. This is the main reason I prefer not to have a lot of spices. Meat has a great, natural taste.

Even gets the halo.

At least they acknowledge that BBQ is about slow cooking. So often it's treated as instant, or even just regular speed.

And then they immediately start talking about high heat and cooking quickly... So they're grilling, not BBQing, according to their own definition.

She's right. Eating off the skewer is fine. Taking them off and eating them is like eating pizza or burgers with fork and knife. It's not like you can't do it, but it's improper.

More hands isn't necessary if you can call for occasional help.

who thinks that the demon lord is a big softie?
After that introduction, he can't not be.

As much as I like the "obviously tough/mean demon lord is actually a gentle person" trope, I hope he isn't the goofy kind of gentle. Let the man be menacing while also being soft.

oh to live the laid-back farming life of growing your one-room shack into an independent nation, welcoming of all races, where you rule as the virgin god-emperor and amuse yourself by having foodgasms and inventing kotatsus in between shounen-style battle arcs against increasingly strong evil monsters (who become tsundere lolis upon defeat). Truly laid-back. The formula is perfect.

I strongly suspect that this is authors using half baked knowledge.
During the age of exploration spices were used to do just that. But what they never seem to realise, why it was done.

It made meats palitable when they were spoiling (but not toxic) which extended supplies which allowed vast voyages and the wealth such a budding trade network allowed.

After all, you could only get so far on hardtack and salted meats before health issues arose.

Might have also acted as a preservative as well, but I'm not compeltely sure on that one.
