Everyone who's stuck on this mindset, just embrace frugalism, minimalist/simple living etc. and turn the emptiness into a virtue instead of attempting to compare yourself to normies. It turned my depression into zen-like detachment.

@butler Not just in Japan, they're usually referred to as psychics in English-speaking countries and many of them make this woman look like a chump:

Both victims would like their names to remain anonymous, however one is a mother in her late 40s from Canada who was defrauded of at least $740,000. The second victim is a professional man in his 30s from the midwest who met Thompson while on business in Manhattan last year, and who was scammed out of $72,000.

...

Thompson, sensing a broken heart and a naive nature, quickly took advantage of the woman’s distress and drained her life savings. She convinced the Canadian that she’d never find love again unless she bought the psychic a 9.2 carat diamond ring.
For reference, as of today:

90,000¥ =[ul][li]$861.27 USD
[li]€723.93 EUR
[li]£644.74 GBP
[li]$1,170.43 AUD
[li]$1,119.53 CAD[/ul]

I thought the point of these fortune teller scams was to be relatively affordable to keep them coming back?

The thought of her alias in English being "Maple Maple" made me snort like a damn pig

It's actually very depressing to live like this. I feel so bad for her. I just wanna give her a hug.
