I mean, cousin marriage isn’t illegal in Japan, hell it’s not even really frowned upon.
Well, that's true...
Still, I would feel like it'd be a bit more uncomfortable? Or maybe that's city and country people difference in perspective on this? As fellow Asian, I think I can see this happen in rural area of my country, too, I guess? But the more urban the area is, the more uncomfortable this will get also, I supposed?
Yeah it seems like its not a zero deal thing since the granddad asked if they were fine with how things were moving, but also not something to put a stop to if the two are interested in each other.
I guess that might be it. I can see similar things play out in my country, too - the adults would encourage them to see someone outside of the family, but if they're distant enough and both of them interested in each other, the adults would probably not stop them - just don't get ahead of themselves.

Yeah we got a family friend from a distant village who got arranged-married to her cousin and has two kids with him. It's pretty weird to us city folk and makes things awkward if it's even brought up. Eventually you stop bringing it up even in your own brain and just treat them as you would a normal family.

Different country and circumstances, but maybe there are some commonalities with Japan? Those guys have weird little spots in their culture considering how advanced they are as a country. They're supposed to be illegal in South Korea, for example.

As a Florida resident, you can never be too prepared for storms. Be sure to fill up your tank early when the storm is sighted, and get water as well. You can pick up your Publix subs the day before however 😉
