They know the land has the silver wind or at least know where they are living iss killing them. Stupid people thinking the land is where the home is instead of family. Graves are not something one needs to live by either. A "permanent" marker, statue or memorial as they only serve to mark. Different culture different values I know, but you'd think parents would look out for their kids and want them to live as long as possible regardless of culture

We can probably assume the rest of the tribe didn't know, and assumed it was a curse on the people or something. By the time she found out, she was the last one left and it was already far too late for her.
