I assumed they would've talked/known each other a little before hopefully as opposed to her just being a silent stalker or so , since teens/kids can get 'crushes' for no reason but that doesn't necessarily mean it'd work out if you did confess like within a month or so and tried going out but depends on the story i suppose

A) Takes sex out of the equation, and,
B) Shows that those feelings don't change

The easiest way to get there without weird explanations is a time lapse.
