If nothing else, a man should be held to his own standards.
This whole time, he's been deliberately trying to hurt her. Now, he's supposedly realized that that's wrong; yet he's still refusing to forgive her.
If she doesn't get to be forgiven despite hundreds of apologies and months of genuinely trying in good faith to mend fences, then he doesn't get off scot-free just because of one piddly apology.
If she needs to earn forgiveness, then so the fuck does he.
