Well, I'm fucked then.

Maybe not. He's internally creepy in how he's thinking of her. But his approach is actually respectful. His friend is giving good advice and moving him away from hairbrained schemes (which helped as an ice breaker but is useless long term) and he's taking that advice seriously. He was able to share something about himself without making it weird to her.

So far he's a weird guy slowly coming down to earth and learning how to talk to girls. And it's working.

Yeah that sounds about right, but you also have to take into account the fact that every time a new girlfriend is introduced, there are more potential arcs that can be done with her, and arcs tend to take longer, so I really wouldn't be surprised if it took about 1000 chapters just to get to girlfriend 100
