<history nerdism> Her family probably didn't own a Zaibatsu. As vertical monopoly-conglomerates, the Zaibatsu owned tons of subsidiary companies and had business ties to even more. Her family was just probably just part of that economic web that collapsed with pretty much all of Japan's economy until the mid 1950's. A smaller company or subsidiary that relied on the vertical food chain would probably have fared much harder than a large corporation that could reorganize and spin off its constituent banks/manufacturing companies, etc.
