Sansui is staying in the service of Dewey in order to have Rain raised with the advantages of such affluence. That choice seems highly questionable, given the attitudes that may at the same time be inculcated in Rain, but that's his thinking. He's also planning to leave that service and return to his master once Rain has achieved adulthood and whatnot.

Within the framework of this story, a sage who is 500 years old and expects to live for very much longer is largely indifferent to the discomforts of dealing with Dewey.

I can't help but enjoy Deweys character. Am I the only one?
I mean it's different from the typical support cast, and normally that kind of character would be on the opposing side. Also, it invites nice plot points and funny shenanigans. Also also, she is a spoiled brat so it fits too.

Rain seems pretty much adopted or at the very least kind of a sister to Dewey at this point and has her future set to become part of the noble society so I guess that is quite a good deal.
