in LN v2 and WN, Miyuki's mother is still alive (just hospitalized), and Miyuki is not homeless. The teachers gives her regular visits, but honestly fails at giving good guidance and instead just tells her to accept reality and figure out what to do herself. Ai's father has heart issues, but Eiji is trying to give him hope and trying to mend his relationship with his daughter in the latest arc.

The author wanted to write "useful adults", but at the same time each of them feel too good to be true. It is understandable if Miyuki's mother is heartbroken when she finds out her honor-student daughter was caught at the love hotel with some random guy and also founds out about the cheating and bullying, but at the end of the day, kids make really terrible mistakes and family goes just a bit deeper.

As I mentioned in the above spoiler, I feel like the teachers are joining in on the revenge porn when they fail to really offer anything substantial to a very vulnerable and depressed Miyuki. Yes I know some readers want to see her getting stepped on further, but i think not being able to provide guidance to a girl who has cleared f'ed up, is showing signs of regret, and is currently living alone due to her mother being hospitalized, goes against the "great teachers" roles the teachers are supposed to play.

Read all the comments, the spoilers were all pretty good. I can understand why people clash with the concept of the main character not being the protagonist aka the active role that solves problems but honestly it is for the best. Stories where the main character is deep down in the bullying hole rarely have a satistying logical conclusion when the main character does the revenge themselves.

The female pov, people need to be a bit more genre savvy to complete understand the intent, it isn't for making her symphatetic: the childhood promise is the everlasting love. She took for granted that the MC would honor the promise because he is in so much love with her that in the future when they are adults they will still marry and raise a family and what she did by cheating is just her female needs in motion but nothing more. Those are both tropes expected of the genre, she's being played straight to piss you at face value. What's not usual is becoming self aware and this is her punishment, she is now outside of the frame crafted by the tropes and is seeing how "reality" works. She wasn't manipulated, she thought she could handle this without any repercussions because she was too full of herself and her own views on people.

I agree up to the lack of manipulation. Kondo definitely manipulated her by saying her boyfriend isn't treating her the way she should be treated and playing on her concerns as being severe deficiencies in Eiji rather than just needing a bit of communication.

This doesn't absolve her, but without the manipulation I don't think she would have even been tempted to cheat.

Is the only thing Kondo yaps on during his povs, you have characters telling him how he basically ruined his life and there wont be any new beginnings for him and all he can say is "I CAN STILL PLAY SOCCER GOOD". This happened like 4x.

It's so funny how within a week this guy has the entire nation, including some insanely powerful politicians, defending him tooth and nail because he was bullied for like two hours on Monday.

I'm also blown away by the visceral response towards literal children making bad moral decisions, because apparently these same adults have zero responsibility to guide and teach these actual children and instead they must meet the strong fist of justice, because therapy doesn't exist.

I'm on chapter 174 of the WN, and I'm loving the trash. To be honest, after the overblown set-up of bad guy spouting psychopathic nonsense and twiddling his moustache like a two dimensional bad guy constantly spouting how he is going to do this evil thing and that evil thing, the revenge arc then kicks in. Again, the whole plot is so obvious, and lots of it is utter nonsense, but it is so rewarding in a trashy way. Still about 80 chapters left to go, and I'm sitting here with my popcorn. I mean, it is a WN, so the quality of writing is woeful, but so is 99% of Japanese pop fiction. Either you are dumb enough and emotionally immature enough to enjoy it, or you are smart enough to love it ironically.
