I was actually enjoying the play, but then they threw me for a loop with that ending. Maybe if it had some foreshadowing I would have liked it, but this doesn’t work for Romeo and Juliet.

I mean... Romeo and Juliet marrying would probably amplify the fued, and put a mark on both of their heads. Like, the reality of the setting is that Romeo murdered her cousin, and there's nothing to say that the Montagues wouldn't disown Romeo for eloping and the Capulets wouldn't put a hit out on him for "defiling" their daughter.

I repeat what I said in a previous comment, Romeo and Juliet is a Tragedy, not a Romance.
