I think the last time I enjoyed an Onsen episode was in Ore no Kurasu ni Wakagaetta Moto Yome ga Iru, the main protagonist help change the course of history, bond and have a good time together.

I haven't read a lot of Manga honestly, too many classics escape me, I mostly keep to romcoms, but I have grown numbs to certain conventions, they feel so trite and superficial. Like the writer feels obliged to go through certain motions, is like they are cooking a recipe and feel tied to adding certain steps or ingredients as if it was out of their control.

I thought the story, had a good pace, that we were getting some good progress for 20 chapters, but I am starting to feel like the story has slowed down a bit, that the writer is trying to slow things and is going to turn into another traditional story where the girl has to do all the work while the guy blocks her until the end.

I am also concered about that. This story was actually rather quick to have the heroine communicate her feelings to the lead; unfortunately, her forwardness has done little to errode his hesitance toward progressing their relationship in a romantic direction.

From the author's perspective it's a safer bet to prolong things because most of our interest in the story hinges on whether or not the relationship will go from sibling to lover. Unfortunately that just leads to (as you mentioned) a formulaic story where things stay relatively the same.

There is definitely an opportunity to explore some interesting themes (like what it means to be family) in the meantime, since the MLs trauma was brought up earlier in the story. Maybe she can help him through that process in a way that brings them closer together.

Agreed. Didn't seem that weird for him to just say she asked for it to be tied. At the same time, seemed weird for them to call her for it too.
