I am still confused about the relationship between the MC and FMC. Is this a sort of “Let’s start off as friends” situation? It looks like he is willing to give Akira a chance but I still don’t understand why he is so roundabout about it. I really hate situations where one side is obvious about their feelings and the other is dragging their feet instead of actively trying to resolve the situation yk?

probably that he straight up likes her and knows it but it very hesitant on actually taking steps forward to avoid ruining the family dynamic after so many years being lonely. he doesn't have it in him to reject her advances if they're mild or she asks hard enough but still doesn't want to push it if possible.
