Hmm... I wonder what happened between MC and his real mom in the past that made him so angry and not want to see his biological mother anymore. and is Suzuka-chan actually his stepsister? Hmm... :thonk:

Yep, explains why Suzuka seemed to ping something for him upon first meeting her. Figured that was why those dreams where coming back so seemingly randomly.

But yeah, dipping then and there was correct. There's clearly some massive past trauma involved where his mother is concerned, and staying there likely would have lead to him saying or doing something that would have knock-on effects for any continued relationship with Suzuka.
Glad that Akira's not the type to go "wow you just ran away that was rude of you" or otherwise pressured him into doing "the socially polite thing" of sticking around. Now it's just a matter of finding out what actually went down that has him not even wanting to face his mother, and what the resolution to this is going to look like--especially given his reaction was so pronounced.

Chapter 2, mom abandoned their family for her affair partner. Affair partner didn't want kids so dad kicked mom out and proclaimed to take care of Ryota by himself. Ryota heard the whole conversation. Chapter 11, Ryota tells Akira that he found out that his dad is not his bio dad because of their blood type.

Now I'm curious if Suzuka's dad is the supposed affair partner.

What's up with this Anikither typo?

oh that's right, I'd forgotten those details about his mom and the truth about his family situation.
Which makes him dipping out like this even more understandable.

If anything, I'm apprehensive about the resolution to this because someone like his mom doesn't deserve his forgiveness, at least at this point. And Ryouta's the kind of character (and this is the kind of series) that would have him just magnanimously make up with her and act like "the past is the past!" because every point of conflict has to be tied up in a nice little bow and everyone becomes friends afterward.

Realistically, it should take years of effort on his mom's part to earn a spot in his life at all, much less anything approaching forgiveness or trust. And I don't know if I trust the author to do the sort of betrayal she handed him--right down to his own dad not being his biological father--the requisite amount of justice Ryouta deserves, given how the other arcs of this series have gone.

High chance he would never ever let her in his life no matter what in real life. Especially if he knows he's not biologically related to his father, that's is a lifelong trait that will cause self-hatred. He's had nightmares about her constantly, people just don't get over shit like this in life 99% of the time they just learn to avoid it and live with it.

I don't know but damn, this Tsukimori little bro arc is boring. I just want some lovey dovey moments of the step siblings.

I hope the plot twist at the end will save this.

S'why I'm honestly concerned about this angle.

Every other point of conflict in this series has been resolved in an almost saccharine fashion that beggars belief at times. I maintain that the scout agent lady shouldn't have been able to win over Ryouta as easily as she did, especially when it's clear there's still some sort of fuckery going on between her and Akira's dad behind the scenes of all of this.
But Ryouta just plays peacemaker and reaches out to every person he comes across to help them, and I worry that he's going to just roll over and let his mom back into his life "for the sake of Suzuka" or something. And for that to happen he'd have to basically just immediately delete years' worth of trauma and pain caused by his mother, and it would be egregiously unsatisfying to see play out because there's just no way to fit that sort of development into the series at the pace that time is passing for the narrative.
