are you seriously comparing what a villain is more likely to do and have done compared to what MC's all over have been too pussy to do resulting in more death? and of course villains who could do that to a good character would, they're villains for a reason. they're supposed to be bad
but somehow the mc doing it to someone who clearly deserves it given how much of a pain in the ass the villain is, is seen as a bad thing despite it resulting in less death and less casualties or victims? huh?

It's an easy setup for a conflict. Extreme prejudice that can never be solved with a mix of stupid motives and actions assures that there will always be a source of drama the author can rely on.

I mean, this is the case for like 90% of mediocre isekai manga. Even when the MC is kickass and proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that the opposition is wrong (or shows that acting against his interest is doomed to fail), they will still act against that out of pure hatred for them.
