Does anyone know where to get those Kaiyodo gachapon? Not really in to yuru camp, just like the kit from factor.

I had an airbrush it completely stop working on me. On a whim I ended up throwing in some hops no.9 into the cup, pulled the needle in and out a few times, gave it a blast. Man the amount of gunk it got out was astonishing. I'm sure some sort of other penetrating oil would have worked, but I had that at hand.

Thank you for the translation! I really like this series. It gives a different perspective on a hobby I really like.
Personally, I am a staunch advocate for brush painting. It's way more fun than using an airbrush, it teaches you a lot of important skills and it helps you improve/practice your fine motor skills. Then again, I paint models for war games and tabletop role-playing games. It's probably different for gunpla!

I really don't like brush-painting. The finish is weak and it layers unevenly.

Also, painting models with gouache? No wonder she complains it's running everywhere. She'd be better painting with her regular airbrush acrylics. I actually use them for color recovery.

The whole point of JKMG is that it encapsulates the feeling that people who love making models are also the people that hate it the most. If you just did everything right first time and had a good time, you're only getting half the experience. You need the pain too.

Yeeea, I know that feeling. I've also painted models with layers thick enough to completely obliterate detail.
Still it felt here that she didn't like the method because she was doing it the wrong and hard way (understandable if nobody actually taught her, but there's internet for that), like painting with water paints instead of thinned-out acrylics like her own airbrush acrylic paints.
She seemed a hobbyist veteran enough have a clue about that even if she doesn't favour it, so it seemed like she had developed a "hobby vice". Which are the worst with how they stick on...

I got a Grex Tritium TG not too long ago. It's been great getting back to a gravity-feed and I personally love the pistol-grip.

Indeed it is! Gunpla, as well as just about all other scale models, often require broad areas to be covered in a single color, a task airbrushes can accomplish easily and quickly.
In addition, the thin coats left by an airbrush allow for pre- and post-shading and gradients.
Furthermore, because of the evenness and smoothness of the layers, airbrushes are great at painting metallics and almost indispensable for candy coats.

That said, one is always welcome to use any techniques they want. I have an acquaintance who is hand-painting a Master Grade Aegis Gundam with Games Workshop colors. He's going with a color scheme inspired by the Infinite Justice Gundam's Real-type Color variant, the parts look incredible so far, and I can't wait to see the completed kit!
