What if the Lava Rock isn't actually the thing that has the power but the chest. Maybe every thing you put in the chest comes back with added value like that painting that was auctioned and increasing in value in the process. Maybe every thing you put in the chest becomes a "lava rock"

Somehow I feel that the same rock the first Howler head used to kill that driver is the very same lava rock. If it ends up being that the rock is cursed by the driver's spirit to bring justice against the Howlers...
